Khalsa Day
Late April, Nathan Phillips Square fills with colour. Khalsa Day marks the Sikh New Year and the founding of the Khalsa community in 1699, and in Toronto, it spills into the streets in a way that feels genuinely open to everyone.
Volunteers handed out free orange turbans to strangers in the crowd, a symbol of dignity and equality at the heart of Sikh values.
